When you're overwhelmed
The problem with doom scrolling is that it moves us deeper and deeper into a freeze. Catastrophe on a tiny screen, between ads, when there’s no way to fight or run- we condense and sink down into ourselves, a pile of stones bearing witness, unable to move until we’ve found the ocean floor of the suffering. But it is endless. There is no floor.
The only way to move through the endless is to come back into our bodies, to move into a bit of justice action, and to go from there.
This piece has been a zine for years, but I am releasing it as a print today as a fundraiser for trans youth and Ukraine.
For the next 48 hrs, make a donation of $30 or more to the ACLU trans youth fund (funds currently being matched!) or the Looking Out Foundation’s Ukraine fund and send me the receipt and I’ll send you a code for a free print of this piece ($35 value).
ps. I’m updating the shop on Thursday, so tomorrow a discount code and early access is going out to you all, my email friends! Thank you so much for following along here and supporting my work.
