I made How Soft? into a sticker for April Patreon rewards and to be honest, I am feeling feelings because it came out so beautifully and it is perfect on my favorite thermos.
It’s an oversized (4”) sticker of my favorite piece from 2022 that reads “When my body says rest, I say, how quiet? how long? how soft?” It was a response to noticing that for so many years I’d responded, immediately, how high? whenever my anxiety said jump! It’s a celebration of asking new questions.
NOTE: This sticker will not be included in the big sticker drop coming next week (though lots of other new and sweet pieces will be). If you want How Soft?, join Patreon on a tier that includes a sticker reward before the end of the month (that’s tomorrow! I should have told you about this sooner).
New Art
I grew up in the pacific northwest where it is (or used to be) gray most of the time. As a kid I thought that overcast was a type of sky, so imagine my shock the first time I went on an airplane and popped up over the top of the cloud layer to discover with my own two eyes that the blue sky is there all the time.
Clouds have edges. Everything does.
I also used to feel that if I, or someone I loved, started to cry it would become the sky and never end. So imagine my relief to learn from experience that crying resolves on its own. When it comes, there is nothing we have to do. It doesn’t require the right words, a perfect response, or a tidy apologetic laugh. It is a self-governing friend who stays only as long as it does, and who closes the door gently on its way out.
“Crying” 2023
This is the April Patreon print for all members on a print tier.
I hope you have an easy Saturday and can soak up a bit of sun and cry as much or as little as your body wants.

ps. If you’re wondering, Miko says the new sticker passes the smell test — it’s even more interesting to sniff than freshly fallen flowers.
pss. In case you missed it, here’s the detail on the rest of the stickers:
We’re doing a spring Sticker Day. There will be 24 stickers, about half of them brand new. Each sticker will be released in limited quantities and popular ones usually sell out pretty quick. If you’d like to grab some, set an alarm:
Patreon members will get access this Monday May 1, 8AM PST. You can become a patron starting at $3 and it comes with a $10 off coupon, so… it’s a pretty good deal.
The remaining stickers will go live for the public this Tuesday May 2, 8AM PST at britchida.com
