I made two paintings for Patreon members this month — Consistency, and Letting Your Self Go — and I am feeling particularly fond of them.
Both come from tender inner places. I often wait until an idea feels complete before I begin to write or paint about it, so I can stand at a distance and see its whole shape. But these ones were painted up close. They are my vital questions.
For me, they mark a beginning of self-acceptance, of curiosity, of celebrating how much space there is on the other side of resisting everything. I hope they offer the same trailheads to you.
If you’d like either or both of these, join us on Patreon before the end of the month — which is tomorrow, Tues 4/30.
My Patreon is a happy-mail art subscription — since we send out one new print and sticker design to everyone, we’re able to do it at a big, friends discount and offer quite a few other perks too (like shop codes and extra check-ins). If you’ve been interested in collecting prints, this is the simplest and most affordable way to do it.
And, I’m not kidding when I say that your steady support is the thing that makes it possible for us to do this work and continue to grow. Thank you current, past & future patrons for being in it with me. See more about how it works.
I was warned to not “grow up and let myself go” / raised by women who were made to believe that we are responsible for controlling the ways our bodies age and grow, their size, their shape and texture.
do you hear it though? the promise in the curse?
to grow up,
let your
self
go
the gift is to have known all my life that this is possible — and finally, to now know it is not a danger, but a birthright.
Good change
