something incredible to share
I have new Pride art below, but first I have something incredible to share:
Meet Miyoko:
This 4 lb, 10 week old puppy came home with us from a local rescue earlier this week. She is made of fluff and tiny daggers.
I don’t know how I’ll ever get anything done again. Here she is while I write to you. She just whispered that I have five more minutes tops:
So, I’ll keep this short. I hope your world - this world - is feeling as marvelous and delicious to you as it is to Miyoko. She told me last night that she knows she is just beginning, but so far it feels so good.

Algorithm Free Art
Art I’ve shared on social media, free from the feed and straight to you
It’s only when they say Total Freedom is too much to ask for that it gets parsed down to:
we just want you to leave us alone so we can heal,
we just want access to healthcare,
we just want representation in media,
we just want to feel safe on public transit.
We want those things, but not *just* those things.
And it’s not too much to ask.
Freedom within and freedom everywhere are made of the same stuff. They depend on each other.
Choosing our own names and then being called by them at work /
Feeling the joy of moving our perfect bodies and playing organized sports /
Integrating our story and learning our history in schools /
Falling in love with clarity and ease and then kissing in public /
Access to therapy and access to HRT /
Chosen family and legal gender markers /
Gender euphoria and degendering fashion /
Loving being us and being loved for it -
All made of the same stuff.
We want it all.
This is what queer people create/fight for.

This print is the reward for my patrons this month! Join us if you’d like one.
You absolutely blew me away. All of the stretched canvas pieces in Opposite of Shame sold out in less than a day. I am beaming. Thank you thank you thank you.
There are a few paper studies left from Opposite of Shame, including this one which is my favorite. If you’d like to browse, click here.
“Every June I paint a self-portrait for my birthday. It's a way to spend time with myself, notice how I'm changing, and knit that together with how I'm evolving as an artist, making it into a physical thing that, too, will begin to age. Now I have a little collection…”
This month I’m writing about the power of self-portraits for Easy Does It. In Part 1 I write about the role of selfies in reframing my sense of The Human Face, as well as understanding myself as I change. In Part 2 I describe four ways to make self-portraits regardless of one’s comfortability with art supplies or drawing.
Join us if you’d like! Our next live class is on Saturday June 25 and is included with all Light Tier memberships
ps. Miyoko is shy but she decided she wants to say hi :)
