I’ve been documenting my sketchbooks for some new lessons on Easy Does It recently and came across this page and its question. I’ve had a lot of anxiety in my life in part because I can’t easily tell when the bad parts have passed. I’m so delayed in letting myself relax on the other side, that sometimes it seems like the hard times never end. But when I look back over my life, most all of them have.
I’m working on a new series of paintings. This photo was from a sweet moment that didn’t last. Now I’ve painted over the whole thing and am curious again to see what it will become. Mark-making teaches me a lot about letting go, about beginning again.
I also recently finished this larger commissioned version of It’s never too late to come home to yourself, which involved a nice balance of careful art making decisions and the kindergarten joys of cutting out shapes and finger painting.
We’re actually working with our local print shop to make another round of prints from this series this Wednesday (4/24), so if you order any today or tomorrow you’ll have a really quick shipment turn around (<1 week, instead of 3 weeks). Click any of the pics below if you want to see the available prints.
I also just finished writing a new check-in as a thank you to my patrons and paid substack subscribers (hi!) for your life-changing practical support. You make it so that I can do this work and share so much of it freely. thank you thank you thank you.
To access, DM me at @britchidapatreon with the name/email address associated with your paid substack or patreon account and I’ll let you in!
Sending lots of love, with dreams of the hard times being over.
warmly,
Brit
ps. We're in the process of updating the shop - raising some prices and taking down prints to make room for the new. If you want to check out the whole collection at current prices, now's the time! :) britchida.com
pps. I’m emailing the winners of the April Free Art Day this week, so keep an eye out for that. I randomly pick a handful of you who read along here each month and send out a shop code for a free print in appreciation of your friendship and support!
