I was not an animal-loving kid. I’m allergic to every mammal animal out there and Zyrtec wasn’t available over the counter until my early twenties. I remember spending the night at my best friend’s house — she had 2 cats and a dog — and I would take my broad cotton headband (think: 1994) and use it to pin little ice cubes to my eyes that were nearly swollen shut. Animals meant asthma and eczema and having to go home early.
I only bring this up to tell you this: I don’t think I’m really that allergic to dogs anymore. Sometime over the past couple of years, this thing that had always been not good for me has become one of the best things in my world. My body’s resounding no has become a yes. Incredible, isn’t it?
Last week Danielle and I visited family and I met little Maya the snow-dog. She slept and shed in the bed with us at night and I didn’t even sneeze. It was cold outside and warm inside. There was a seemingly bottomless pot of chili, chocolate bars and potato chips. And, I had plenty of time to paint. Pretty much perfect.
We’re home now. I’m back in the studio and realizing the things that fell through the cracks, which includes communicating with you about the New Years sales. I had mentioned on Instagram they were ending, supposedly last weekend, but I never even emailed you about it (or took the sales down), so: I’m making a new plan.
Here it is: the sales will run through this Saturday, Jan 20.
There are two things: Patreon annual memberships, which are 15% off, and Easy Does It annual memberships, which are up to $80 off, and work out to be about 29% off the monthly price. Here are the details:
Patreon: If you’d like to surprise yourself with new art, stickers, and a bit of writing in the mail every month this year, you can get 15% off now with an annual membership. Even without the sale, it’s already at a steep discount over buying prints individually, and it comes with other perks like coupon codes and my deep gratitude.
Easy Does It: Our welcoming art community for anyone looking to make some marks that feel personal, honest and easy. It’s a good place to come to nurture your creative practice, whether you are just thinking about beginning or feeling ready to strengthen or reconcile with a creative part of yourself. You can browse the dozens of lessons that are already up at easydoesitart.com or read this welcome post to get a feel for what we do. Our next EDI Live class is coming up Saturday January 28, 2023 at 12pm PST. Here are the New Year’s deals:
Annual memberships to the Light Tier (access to everything, including monthly live classes) is $80 off - click here to access
Annual memberships to the Water Tier (everything except live classes) is $40 off - click here to access
Sales end after Saturday. Hopefully this gives you plenty of time to join us if you’d like. I’d love to have you in either of these circles!
